Description

The GPCA carabiner has an integrated Philips + Flat head screwdriver, form-fitting inside the CNC machined unibody. The build more importantly provides much needed grip and torque for turning screws even more than any regular compact screwdrivers. The wire cutters in particular are extremely well designed. They have several different hardness areas and allow you to cut different wires very easily. The carabiner is built into the reverse side of the hammer and is great for attaching the MUT to your bag or a MOLLE chest rig. It’s safe to say most men, at one point in their lives, have wanted to be Batman. Most guys though, it’s also fair to say, would settle for having a utility belt like Batman’s. That seemed to have everything Bruce Wayne needed, when he needed it. Okay, so it’s true…we don’t really need a grappling hook (unless you’re a mountain climber). There’s still many things it’d be useful to have access to easily. A utility belt may be a bit too much though, especially if you work in an office or heading to Walmart for weekly food shop. This funky looking multi tool may resemble a quirky-designed bottle opener, but trust us, the Haversport 10-in-1 is so much more. This heavy duty, low-cost and exceptionally portable EDC multi tool is constructed from top-grade stainless-steel with a sandblasted surface to give it a more textured feel. Glass breaker: A glass breaker might seem like a quaint addition to a multi-tool until you need to get out of a sinking car through the windows.

Learning Curve: The fire striker requires some practice to use effectively, especially for those accustomed to larger fire rods. Now we’re really hitting our stride with the next EDC carabiner. Considering how inexpensive this is, we’re rather surprised at what it features. With a durable construction of aluminum alloy and stainless-steel and seven amazing tactical accessories, we did fall a bit head over heels for it. The MUT is a tactically focused multi tool designed around the AR15 platform. It has a combination of 16 standard and AR15 specific tools that give you a pretty useful set of tools overall. It’s a large tool, coming in at five in long and weighing 11.2 oz. Its tool loadout includes: We wish the main blade were not serrated. Yes, a serrated edge cuts a few things a little better than a straight edge. But that serrated edge suffers or completely fails to cut other things, especially when it is dulled. Once dull, a serrated edge is more difficult to sharpen, whereas the included sharpener on the Signal could be used to resurface an entirely straight-edged blade. The inclusion of a serrated portion on the blade seems like a marketing move more than a practical one. The Signal is unique and functional. It isn't too huge or too clumsy to use. With it, Leatherman comes another step closer to abandoning their proprietary bit driver interface. They built in the expected "squashed" bit driver, but they also included a standard 1/4 inch drive bit holder. We like this. The standard bit holder isn't oriented in an ideal fashion, but it is better than nothing. For survivalists looking for a multi-tool designed with bushcraft in mind, while also functional around the home, the Signal is a great piece of gear to add to the kit. It’s a personal choice. The biggest differentiating factor is whether you prefer plier-style tools or something more like the Swiss Army Knife.Fire Striker Wheel: Provides a satisfying spray of sparks, useful for lighting tinder or stoves with some practice. This gives you a pretty large carabiner that’s very useful. Unfortunately the design of the carabiner was one of the only bright spots with the Crucial. The design of the handles makes them downright uncomfortable when trying to use the pliers and many of the other tools have only marginal usefulness. Importantly, it’s TSA-friendly, so if you’re planning on a trip and want to be sure you’re always prepared, this is the perfect companion. Aside from the bottle opener, screwdriver and visible 2-inch ruler, there’s blade that doubles as a box cutter and cord cutter. For the more technical out there, there’s three different sized wrenches (1/4-inch, 5/16-inch and 3/8-inch) all in the same inconspicuous hole that sits alongside a hex bit driver. You can even use the MOCA for any fine scoring work you need to complete. Recently, fellow IFMGA mountain guide Jeff Dobronyi joined the review team. Jeff's busy outdoor lifestyle requires having the right tool for the job, whether that's repairing ski gear or mountain bike components in the field or doing repairs, or slicing food at home. Now, it’s worth mentioning that a TSA agent’s main priority is safety. If they feel like anything you have can be used as a weapon, it’s their job to make sure that doesn’t make it onto a plane. Keep in mind that that's ultimately up to the officer's discretion. That said, these tools are compliant with the most recent rules and regulations.

Knife: If you can everyday carry a knife, a multi-tool must have a good one. After all, it takes up the same space as a dedicated blade. You may well do the same thing to be honest, especially when we point out that there’s a stainless-steel blade. This is essentially the upgraded version of a previous model from the manufacturer. Not only is the bottle opener sharper, but so too is the blade. With that power comes great responsibility and durability. The Elephant outdoor tactical carabiner has it all. If your multi-tool use includes a lot of driving screws, choose the Center Drive Plus. It is the best tool we know of for that purpose. Otherwise, it's more average as a general multi-tool. The rattly construction holds up well but doesn't instill high confidence. The pliers are more prone to pinching than more sophisticated options, and accessing tools other than the blade, pliers, and bit driver requires multiple steps. There’s also a wide variety of different brands out there. It seems as if everyone is jumping on the bandwagon and trying to produce the best mini keychain multitool. The brands we think you should look out for though include: What kind of tools does it have? The 13 includes the inevitable and vital bottle opener, bicycle spoke wrenches, screwdrivers, nail puller, box opener, three wrenches and a 1” ruler. So, just about everything you could need on your keychain. AS well as, if you’re a cyclist, tools to carry out light maintenance and repairs on your bike. The best multi tool with carabiner is kind of hard to choose. The category doesn’t lend itself well to standardized tools and there are more versions of different tools than we can count. That being said, there were two clear winners from the tools we reviewed. First in our guide to the carabiner multi tool is this simplistic, but incredibly practical model from Northwall. Made from titanium alloy, this tool offers a great deal of robustness with more than enough resistance against corrosion, meaning it’s going to last a long time indeed. It’s also suitable for taking on in your carry-on luggage on flights as it’s TSA-compliant. The original carabiner was used in situations or sports where ropes were involved, such as climbing. However, it did not take long for these little hooks to be used by a variety of people, in a variety of situations. There are a lot of people who use them to attach their keys to their belt loops or for the ladies, their purse. Now, that same rope climbing tool turned keychain has taken on a new purpose.
