Mitħna – This former mill (hence the name) converted into a restaurant has welcomed a number of celebrities visiting Malta. There’s a water shortage in Malta because it gets little rain and hot temperatures. Also, there are a lot of people there. Because nature can’t supply half the water Malta needs, it’s been desalinating seawater since 1982. To arrive in Gozo, you have to take the ferry from Cirkewwa on the Island of Malta to the seaport of Mgarr on the Island of Gozo. You can then hop on the local buses (and taxis) to get around the island. Buses run less frequently than on Malta, but it's easier than renting a car. Gozo bus drivers know how to navigate the island's hairpin turns and narrow one-lane roads. Avoid hiking during the height of summer from June to August, as Malta's Mediterranean sun can be unrelenting. Cooler temperatures and island landscapes enlivened by blooming wildflowers make October to May the ideal time.

Located on a peninsula between two natural harbours, in the south-eastern part of the island nation, is Valletta – the capital city of Malta. With an area of 0.61 sq. km, it is the southernmost capital of Europe and the smallest capital city of EU. Valletta is Malta’s chief cultural center and also the country’s administrative and commercial hub. Valletta has the island’s largest harbour – Grand Harbour. Where is Malta? Gozo's capital city, Victoria (also known as Ir-Rabat) is surrounded by a sun-parched Mediterranean landscape. The historic center of Victoria stands on a hilltop enclosed within a Citadel (Cittadella), constructed by the Knights of Saint John after the medieval walls were destroyed by the Turks in 1551.Malta’s average annual precipitation is 90 days, and monthly rainfall is 0.5 to 12 mm. For example, there is 110 mm of precipitation in December, while in July, there is just 0.3 mm. Outside of the village, the Ta' Isopu Tower was built in 1667 by the Knights as a watchtower. At the highest point in Nadur, the more modern Ta' Kenuna Tower (open to the public) offers panoramic views of the Gozo countryside and the islands of Comino and Malta. Further down the road from Armier and Little Armier, there’s another small sandy beach called White Tower Bay. Mostly frequented by locals (and temporary summer residents who park a caravan or own a so-called boathouse there), it’s another more secluded option. You will find a restaurant at the end of the beach. Slugs Bay

Barely visible on the world map. So where is Malta? The islands of Malta are in the very centre of the Mediterranean sea, between Sicily and Africa. One80 Kitchen & Lounge – Further up the hill towards the village, this restaurant is renowned for serving high-quality cuisine, whether in the modern dining room or on the terrace offering panoramic views. Hiking Excursions: Gozo is a small island, and many sights are within reasonable hiking distance. The eight-kilometer hike from Marsalforn to Ramla Bay leads through hillsides and valleys to the coastline, with amazing views along the way. You can also try the five-kilometer hike from Ix-Xewkija to the tiny beach of Mgarr ix-Xini. The most exhilarating hike is the eight-kilometer trail from Victoria via Xlendi to the Ta'Cenc Cliffs. Use the Bus System: The Island of Gozo has an excellent bus system that provides access to all of the top tourist attractions on the island. Although the Gozo buses run less frequently than on Malta, this mode of transportation is an easy-to-use and affordable way for tourists to travel around the island. It proposes a pedestrian walk around the old capital. Also showing the approach from outside the main gate from Rabat with the various requirements of public transport, petrol stations, ATM and toilet facilities. It is easy to see from a map of Malta and Gozo that these islands are located just south of Sicily and north of Africa. The beach here is small but enclosed between high spectacular cliffs which make Xlendi one of the best spots in Gozo. Marsalforn's tiny harbor is a popular starting point for scuba diving expeditions. Favorite places to visit for scuba diving trips from Marsalforn include the Blue Hole and the Inland Sea on the Island of Gozo, around Cirkewwa on Malta Island, and the Comino Caves on the Island of Comino. Please note: Buses don’t stop at the bay, and a walk in the summer heat will be too much to bear for both, so this is really only an option if you rent a car (or get a lift).
