There’s also an unfinished feeling; we spend literally half the book reading about step-brothers and then there’s suddenly nothing about them. I particularly liked when the four were yet again facing a fight or flight situation and Eve asks Michael “what’s the plan”, Michael’s reply “don’t lose” – and Shane then jumps in with “It’s simple, yet effective. On top of that, Audible has it as a 3 chapter book when there are number chapter headings read out so that I know there are at least 21 chapters in here.It isn't until I suddenly find my father on his deathbed and myself sold off to a sadistic lord that I finally decide to take matters into my own hands. Of course lots of people are going to love the feel of this book but for me, this book was unfortunately a bad experience from beginning to end. Plausible, action packed, KISS OF DEATH grabbed my attention right from the start, and never let up. I don't want to give too much away but this book gives Cinderella, Beauty and the Beast and then Hades and Persephone. Yes, I always loved myths and legends - I used to read and re-read two books from the library - one a big illustrated edition of Greek Myths and the other Old Peter's Russian Tales. And I honestly am so confused how the author plans to turn this into a “why choose” because everything feels so disconnected. Bad stuff happens to the FMC in the beginning, Death takes her home, then nothing for the remaining 80% of the book.
