Description

This had many elements that I think you would expect to find in an adventure story - a missing will, a curse, a secret room. The book contains all the elements that we've enjoyed before - the relationship between Hal and Uncle Nat, the friends and characters they encounter, the real places that we can then look up about afterwards, but above all, the exciting plot and twists that come later in the story! Join Hal and Uncle Nat on more stops in this thrilling series with: The Highland Falcon Thief, Kidnap on the California Comet, Murder on the Safari Star and Sabotage on the Solar Express. In the first three books, Hal and Uncle Nat had adventures in their native-UK, in the United States and South Africa. She has a first-class honours degree in English literature and an MA in Shakespeare Studies from Kings College London.

A lifelong fan of puzzles, games, and detective fiction, he grew up with a railway at the bottom of his garden and has been mad about trains ever since. Hal's interest in trains is a huge benefit to him here but he must disguise his detective abilities (which also means his art) to help crack the case.Ik moest wel lachen om het feit dat Alex telkens zo verbaasd was dat ze met elektrische treinen rijden.

Our book boxes are always packed with the very best books and are full of fun, educational activities to ensure our detectives develop key reading skills.I definitely recommend this series to anyone who enjoys a solid, heart-warming, engaging Children's Mystery. Listen to them read an extract from the book and discover the inspiration behind their Adventures on Trains Series. We often read this together at bed times and quite often we'd end up with a late night just to read one more chapter, surely a good sign. She spent her early career in the music industry running Setanta Records, an independent record label, and managing bands, most notably The Divine Comedy. There are still a lot of trains, but once Hal and Nat get to the castle, a lot of time is spent in it, moving around the old house and grounds.

Hal and his Uncle Nat are back in their fourth adventure, Danger at Dead Man's Pass, and I couldn't have been more excited! It would have been quite useful to have it, as I was struggling to figure out how one branch of the family were related, but that was a minor thing. De plot op zich is ook bepaald niet simplistisch te noemen, dus je krijgt wel waar voor je geld en tijd. From the beginning I was hooked, wanting to solve the mystery and, as usual, I enjoyed the twists and turns along the way. There's four new kids to keep up with, some with more personality than others, and I'm still not sure who Ozan is. This adventure seems a little more serious to Hal, and it doesn’t help that Uncle Nat is behaving oddly too!

Hal and Uncle Nat answer a cry for help from an old friend, and take a trans-European railway journey to the Harz mountains in Germany, where they go undercover the solve the mystery of an old family curse. Karakters worden op slimme wijze geïntroduceerd en er wordt met net genoeg informatie verwezen naar avonturen uit het verleden zodat het verhaal ook goed te volgen is zonder de vorige delen te hebben gelezen. However, I'm never one to turn down time at a creepy, gothic mansion, so this setting worked as well. The Kratzensteins are wealthy and powerful railway tycoons with a rich history and spooky mansion in the mountains. This entry feels quite different to the others (in a good way) because it doesn't take place solely on trains. The Adventures on Trains series has been one of my favourite discoveries of the last few years, so I was thrilled to receive an ARC of Danger at Dead Man’s Pass. Legend has it the Kratzensteins, a family of rich and powerful railway tycoons, are cursed, but there is no such thing as a curse, is there . Read an extract from the book here, or downl oad our questions to use for discussion in your own book club. Ross Montgomery, author of Perijee and Me Wildly funny, with hairpin plot bends and inventive characters, this series is firmly on track to become a bestseller.
